Succeeds In Engine Test Fire

Today, South Korea successfully performed a rocket engine test launch, according to officials. The booster engine is set to be launched on October 25th from the Naro Space Center electronic component precision tube in Goheung, Jeollanam-do Provinceand if the test is successful, a total of five booster engines will be used in the first and second stage to thrust out Nuri in 2021.
The 75-ton-thrust engine was fired up and launched the first-stage rocket at the Naro Space Center in Goheung, South Jeolla Province, at 4 p.m., as part of the country's long-term project to launch the Korea Space Launch Vehicle-2 (KSLV-2), dubbed Nuri, in 2021.

SEOUL, Sept 16 (Yonhap) - South Korea plans to conduct the first test flight of its locally developed booster engine at the end of next month, the ICT ministry said Sunday, as part of a long-term effort to produce the Korea Space Launch Vehicle-2 (KSLV-2), a three-stage rocket.
The 107-kilogram satellite, developed by the country's top engineering and science university Korea Advanced Institute of Science and Technology (KAIST) from 2012-2018, will measure space radiation and observe stars' infrared rays for the next two years.
The production of these new engines was launched in 2001, and the first Czech-made model to be fitted with this unit was the ŠKODA FABIA in 2003. In 2013, after the culmination of years of hard work, innovation, and the contribution of Hanwha's advanced technology - the ‘Naro-1 (KSLV-I) - Korea's first space launch vehicle, successfully launched a satellite into space.

Engine combustion lasted for 151 seconds, surpassing an initial goal of 140 seconds, bringing the vehicle to an altitude of 75 kilometers (46 miles) before the engine stopped. The rocket engine is reported to have a 75-ton thrust and is being developed by KARI to be the engine for the Korean Space Launch Vehicle-II (KSLV-II), a three-stage launch vehicle currently being developed for its maiden launch in 2021.
1: According to NPO Energomash, the RD-191 rocket engine accumulated 4,500 seconds of running time in 35 firing tests. 31 from the Naro Space Center in Goheung, South Jeolla Province, the Ministry of Science and ICT said. Before the work on RD-191 commenced at the end of 1998, the RD-170 was already "halved" to create the two-chamber RD-180 engine for the US Atlas rocket.
Vice Science Minister Lee Jin-gyu told journalists that the test vehicle was successfully launched and flight data that was collected showed the engine was functioning properly. Russia's newest rocket engine will power an American space launcher, the two sides agreed.
